How to Do a Facial at Home in 9 Steps
1. Prep
The Double Cleanse method is the fresh start and clean slate your skin needs to prepare for your at-home facial. We recommend “double cleansing” to draw out makeup, dirt, and impurities from pores and ensure radiant results when performing your facial.
Start by gently shaking Truffle Therapy Cleansing Oil to blend the biphase formula, saturate a cotton round to swipe and cleanse skin. This soothing formula breaks down and gently removes even the most stubborn waterproof eye makeup without tugging at the skin.
Follow with Truffle Therapy Cleansing Foam, a gentle water-based cleanser, to cleanse away residue, dirt, and sweat as it soothes and purifies pores to prevent blemishes.
2. Steam
Now for the most relaxing part of the facial: steaming! Steam opens up clogged and congested pores to loosen up everything that has accumulated under the skin's surface. This step makes it easy to expel & remove dead skin cells, product build-up, and impurities during the exfoliating and masking steps.
To steam your skin, pour hot water into a large bowl or basin. If you want, add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to the water. Tea tree oil can help with acne-prone skin, while lavender’s soothing scent can add to the relaxing experience.
Hold your face at least 6-10 inches above water, to avoid irritation or burns, and drape towel over head and basin to properly steam skin for two-minute intervals. Repeat several times until water cools.
Note: While an esthetician may use an extraction tool during a facial to remove black heads, comodones and blockages from pores, we do not recommend performing extractions at home. While extracting clogged pores can help to prevent future breakouts, DIYing this part of the facial can also lead to scarring. Leave extractions to the professionals!
3. Exfoliate
It’s important to make exfoliation a part of your regular skincare routine to remove dull, dead skin cells and reveal the healthy, glowing skin underneath. Exfoliation also speeds skin cell turnover, which can help to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity. Gently massage skin in a circular motion with Truffle Therapy Face Gommage to exfoliate, then remove with water and a washcloth.
4. Cleanse, again
Replenish nourishing hydration and repair skin's natural moisture barrier with Truffle Whipped Cleansing Cream. This gentle cream cleanser deep cleanses and reduces blemishes as it infuses skin with potent Mediterranean botanicals to saturate the complexion with healthy radiance.
5. Mask
Apply your favorite facial mask to your skin. Not sure which one to choose? Clay masks can help draw out impurities from clogged pores and balance oil production, while cream and gel-based masks are amazing for hydrating parched skin.
Hint: if you have combination skin, multi-mask by applying a clay mask to your T-zone and a hydrating mask to the rest of your face. Our Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing multitasks wonderfully as a moisture mask that can be applied 1-2 times a week!
6. Tone
Refresh and refine skin and pores by using Truffle Therapy Facial Toner. Saturating a cotton round, swipe face toner over your skin, making sure to pay attention to your T-Zone and parts that tend to become oily, such as forehead, cheeks, and chin. This step is key to purifying your skin and removing any remaining traces of the cleansers and masks used in previous steps.
7. Treat
Apply skin-renewing Truffle Therapy Serum to your face and neck using sweeping upward motions. Formulated with skin-nourishing essential acids and vitamins, this serum leaves skin with a smoother, more radiant texture. If desired, you can also use a facial roller for a relaxing facial massage.
8. Eye Cream
Gently dab Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate under your eyes and along your brow bone. This unique formula targets signs of tired eyes like puffiness, dark circles, and eye bags.
Hint: for extra soothing, chill Eye Concentrate in your refrigerator for 30 minutes before applying.
9. Moisturize
Finish your homemade facial by applying hydrating Truffle Therapy Cream to your face, neck, and decollete.
For best results, we recommend treating yourself to an at-home 2-3 times per month.
